LifeWest | Day 1: Arrived!

What an adventure our first 24 hours in Uganda have been!

After 26 hours of traveling, our plane arrived late last night in Entebbe! With only 3-4 hours of sleep we woke up jet lagged and excited to experience the pearl of Africa. Just down the road from our hotel was a fish market on the shore of lake Victoria. So we began this morning with breakfast, group devotions and a walk to lake Victoria.



Then we piled in the Amiina vans and set out for Mityana. As we drove we stopped at at few of Amiina’s sponsor children’s homes! One family in particular stuck out as she was a single mother of 3 sets of twins! Her oldest set being 14 and her youngest set being 4! This mamma lost her husband a year ago and while she mourns his loss, relatives of her husband have tried to take her children and her home from her. While she comes from a christian background her late husband was Muslim and it has been difficult to separate herself from her late husbands family until Amiina was able to recently step in! We had the opportunity to see her small farm, and pray over her whole family! We prayed for safety for her children and healing from the loss of her husband! We prayed Gods protection over the sanctity of her family and livelihood! It was a sweet honor, to spend time in her home with her six sweet children!





We also spent the afternoon playing games and singing songs with the Amiina Children at the community center.


Later that afternoon Nick and I were able to go to a home visit with our own 2 sponsor children. We drove to their house just the 4 of us! It was special beyond words to spend that time talking with them as though we’ve know one another forever! Nick and I visited our boys 2 years ago, where the boys were either too shy to talk to us without a translator or were not confident in their English.The growth in our boys we got to experience today was a true testament of the time and stewardship Amiina has put into our sponsor boys and all of the sponsors children! Our boys graduate from secondary school in one month and have already started working in their trades! It is a honor to watch them grow into mature young men!

Later this evening, we went to the High school where the 2 day conference will be held! There we were introduced to the nearly 300 student who will be attending the conference tomorrow. Our entire team eagerly and expectantly awaits what God has in store tomorrow!


Please be in prayer for our Life West church team & the Amiina ministries team that we will lean into the promptings of the Holy Spirit.

I will close with this verse; Ephesians 3:18-21

“may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”
