"From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked"
1 Peter 12:48
Many of our pastors and friends in Uganda are the product of a child being sponsored. Their sponsors gave consistently and diligently, allowing them grow in ways that would not have been possible without the intervention. The seemingly small, mundane, monthly gifts have changed their lives forever. And, because their lives have been forever changed, they are using what they have been given, the gift of education and the transformational love of Jesus Christ, and using it to impact and empower those who are living in the same situation. Because of the cycle of empowerment and transformation we see happening, we strongly believe that when you empower a child, you really do change a family, and transform a community for Jesus Christ.
We also believe in FAMILY. Sponsoring a child is a tangible way of helping the family as a whole. In Uganda, children are required to pay school fees, purchase uniforms and supplies in order to attend a school. For many families in our district, this is a huge burden as even basic needs such as food, shelter and clean water are not met. If a family cannot afford the cost of school, the children are forfeited their education. Because this situation is common amongst families, the cycle is not easily broken without outside intervention. We believe taking this burden off of the family allows them to be strengthened as a family unit should be.
